Assistant Professor – Neuroscience

The Division of Basic Biomedical Sciences at the University of South Dakota’s Sanford School of Medicine invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. Applicants should have a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in a Neuroscience-related discipline and two years of post-doctoral experience. We seek an energetic, interactive and collaborative individual who has expertise in bioinformatics, animal research or human neuroimaging research that addresses questions related to stress/trauma, substance abuse or brain injury. Applicant’s research areas are expected to interact with the Center for Genetics and Behavioral Health (https://www.usd.edu/cbbre/center-for-genetics-and-behavioral-health) members of the university-wide Center for Brain and Behavior Research (usd.edu/cbbre) as well as current faculty within the Division of Basic Biomedical Sciences (https://www.usd.edu/medicine/basic-biomedical-sciences). Candidates should demonstrate strong potential for developing an independent, translational and innovative research program that has or is likely to attract sustained extramural funding. In addition to the primary mission of developing and sustaining high-quality research, the candidate will also contribute to the educational/training mission by participating in teaching graduate and/or medical students. Excellent start-up funds, state-funded salary commensurate with experience and state-of-the-art research facilities in the Lee Medical Science Building will be provided.
