Professorship (W2) in Coordination Chemistry (reference W1544)

The Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology at Saarland University seeks to appoint a Professor (W2) (m/f/x) in the field of coordination chemistry with an anticipated starting date in April 2020.

The desired research focus is the development of adaptive and/or stimuli-responsive polymers based on coordination compounds with p-block elements, transition metals and/or lanthanides. In teaching, inorganic chemistry, in particular coordination chemistry, is expected to be covered in the undergraduate and graduate degree programmes of the Faculty.

The commitment to existing and/or the initiation of new joint research programmes of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology as well as the collaboration with non-university research institutions at Saarbrücken is anticipated. The cooperation within the cross-border region SaarLorLux is supported by the University of the Greater Region (www.uni-gr.eu).

Aside from standards set by general employment legislation, eligibility criteria include a university degree in the corresponding or a related field, educational skills, proven aptness for original scientific work (usually documented by the quality of the doctorate or PhD) and a track record of past independent research (e. g. during habilitation, assistant professorship or equivalent). Original publications in leading journals, the documented acquisition of third-party funding as well as experience in staff management, academic administration and international mobility are expected. Applications from EU and non-EU citizens will be considered. German language skills are useful, but not a requirement.
