Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor - Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery


The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the UCSF Weill Institute for Neurosciences is seeking a leader for the Saul and Ida Epstein Laboratory for Auditory Physiology and Genetics. The Epstein Laboratory is an endowed Regents Laboratory within the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at UCSF and is devoted to hearing science. Historically, the lab has focused on basic and applied research for the treatment of deafness with a focus on cochlear implantation and genetic therapies. The next leader of the Epstein Lab will be central to neuroscience collaborations focused on advancing the translational and/or basic science understanding of the mechanisms of hearing and auditory processing in order to target therapeutic strategies.

The successful candidate will be a leader in the field of auditory neuroscience, highly collaborative, and must have a track record of facilitating relationships across several clinical and research disciplines. A track record of consistent funding is expected.

The Epstein Lab Director will be a research leader within the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and as such will work cooperatively with the clinical Division of Otology/Neurotology which is led by Dr. Charles Limb. Mentorship of medical students, residents, post-doctoral students, and clinical and research faculty is integral to the position.

The position will be within the In-Residence or Ladder track at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level. Candidates must have a degree equivalent to a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD.
