Job Summary/Basic Function:
Seeking a highly motivated, self-starter Post-doctoral Fellow with the ability to work with optimal resources and little direct supervision to address important questions of vaccination responses. Our lab explores how toxin neutralizing immune responses to the anthrax vaccine are developed and maintained. The successful candidate will participate in one or more of the following aspects of our research: roles of antibody subclass and epitope specificity of serum antibody generated from anthrax vaccination in neutralization of toxin; the role of race and sex in immune responses; and differences in cellular populations and cytokine levels in individuals with good and poor vaccine responses.

Minimum Qualifications:
PhD, or PhD/MD. Previous experience in basic human immunology is required. Good written skills necessary. Ability to communicate and write summaries of results required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Ideally would have at least two publications with one or more first author, peer-reviewed, English manuscripts in human immunology. Previous experience with flow cytometry and cellular immunology is preferred. Experience with managing large data sets and statistical analysis or with mapping antibody-antigen epitope interactions is a plus.

Physical Demands:

Regularly required to stand, use manual dexterity, talk or hear; Frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms; occasionally sit; frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Potential exposure to fumes, airborne particles, or rodent dander. May work with toxic, caustic chemicals, radioactive materials, liquid nitrogen, human tissue or blood. Potential risk of electrical shock. Occasional exposure to cold 4C, and/or extreme cold -80C from freezers. Noise level is usually moderate.
