The Director of Molecular Lab has the responsibility for managing the day to day operations of a department of the Institute. These responsibilities include managing projects, personnel and budgets for the department. In addition a director has input into the institutional planning and yearly budgeting exercises. It is expected that Directors propose and execute new projects and actively identify and pursue new funding opportunities. Maintaining a vigorous research program and assuring the communication of research results, through presentations and publications, is also part of a Director’s responsibilities. The Director of Molecular Lab is expected to possess and understand major molecular biology laboratory work skills and genomics research experimental platforms, with experience leading large scale molecular biology processing such as extractions of biomolecules from human tissues for research projects. PhD or equivalent in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field required; master’s degree with five years’ experience is considered PhD equivalent. A wide range of hands-on experiences using molecular and biochemical experimental methods including major genomic experimental platforms.  Experience in proteomic experimental platforms is a plus. 10+ years of work experience after post-doctoral training preferred. 5+ year’s managerial experience preferred. Established researcher as evidenced by a strong publications track record. Experience in grant applications.
