The Centre for Organismal Studies Heidelberg (COS) at Heidelberg University invites applications for the position of 

Professor in Developmental and Cell Biology of Plants (W3 full professorship)

The successful candidate (f/m/x) shall support and expand the research activities of COS in the area of developmental and cell biology of higher plants. The investigation of fundamental questions of biology is expected that build on the profile and expertise of COS. The research direction needs to integrate into existing research consortia of cellular and developmental biology (SFB1101, FOR 2581). Research should focus on morphogenesis and preferentially address the regulation of cell fate in the context of physical forces by applying modern imaging technologies.

Furthermore, the professorship contributes to teaching in the area of plant sciences within the study programmes Bachelor Biowissenschaften, Bachelor Biologie 50% and Master of Molecular Biosciences. 

COS comprises 23 independent research groups and offers excellent conditions in an international environment. The research groups are supported through CellNetworks Core Facilities (Deep Sequencing, Nikon Imaging Center, electron microscopy and Metabolomics).

Further requirements for hiring are a university degree, in accordance with ยง47 Abs. 2 Landeshochschulgesetz in particular the habilitation, a successfully evaluated juniorprofessorship or equivalent qualification, extensive academic teaching experience and in particular, the direction of an independent research group. Active participation in larger research networks is expected.
