Open Rank Faculty Position: Nutritional Biochemistry & Metabolism Focus

The Department of Nutrition in the School of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University invites applications for a 12 month tenured or tenure track faculty position at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level with expertise in nutritional biochemistry and metabolism. The Department is a highly interdisciplinary unit with 24 faculty members who influence the fields of nutrition, metabolism, basic and translational biomedical sciences via a broad array of research from molecular nutrition to clinical intervention studies. The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain a vigorous, innovative, collaborative and extramurally-funded research program, contribute to teaching, student advising and engage in academic and professional service.  We encourage applications from candidates who integrate emerging and traditional research techniques to answer translational questions on topics including, but not limited to, the combination of cancer metabolism and metabolomics, the gut microbiome, or nutrient-gene interactions.

In addition to laboratory space, access to exceptional core facilities, and generous start-up packages, we offer a highly interactive environment with exceptional intellectual, infrastructural, and administrative support.  The candidate will be an active participant in the expansion of research conducted by the Department of Nutrition. The successful candidate will receive a primary appointment in the Department of Nutrition and, if appropriate, a secondary appointment in the Center for Proteomics and Bioinformatics and will pursue secondary appointments in the collaborating departments, depending on the candidate’s research focus. Candidates should have an MD, PhD or equivalent and relevant post-doctoral experience. Candidates at the Assistant Professor level should demonstrate promise for research and teaching excellence; Associate Professor candidates should have established a significant professional reputation; candidates for Professor should be internationally recognized for leadership and scholarship in their discipline. Salary and benefits are competitive and salary will be commensurate with experience.

The successful candidate will have access to doctoral students through the Biomedical Scientist and Medical Scientist Training Programs.  In addition, the Department of Nutrition houses the Systems Biology and Bioinformatics program, which trains both MS and PhD students to combine experimental and computational/mathematical disciplines to understand complex biological systems as well as the MS and PhD in Nutrition programs, and would provide well-trained graduate students who can further your research program.
