Postdoctoral Position in Stem Cell Biology/Gene Editing

(University of Illinois at Chicago)

Postdoctoral positions are immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Sang-Ging Ong (https://www.onglab.org/) in the Department of Pharmacology and the Center for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago. The Ong lab is stably funded by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and institutional funding.

Using mouse models, patients’ samples, and patient-specific iPSCs, the Ong lab seek to understand the molecular and biological mechanisms underlying various cardiovascular diseases through cellular, genetic, and biochemical approaches. We are particularly interested in cardiometabolic diseases with a focus on mitochondrial biology in both cardiomyocytes and endothelial cells. In addition, we are currently seeking candidates to explore how post-transcriptional regulation of various types of RNA lead to metabolic changes in the heart under both physiological and pathological conditions.

Qualifications: Recent or upcoming PhD or MD/PhD degree and a strong record of peer-reviewed publications with at least one first-author manuscripts (IF>5) is essential. Candidates should have experience working in at least one of the following areas: 1) stem cell biology/chemical biology, 2) CRISPR/Cas9 gene-editing, 3) mouse models of cardiovascular diseases, 4) epigenetics/epitranscriptomics/RNA biology, 5) molecular biology/biochemistry/cell signaling, and 6) computational biology/bioinformatics.

Interested candidates should submit a CV with the names of three referees to Dr. Sang-Ging Ong (sangging@uic.edu). The positions are open immediately until filled.

The University of Illinois at Chicago is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action employer. Minorities, women, veterans and individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
