The Role:

This role is an exciting opportunity to be a critical part of the Accounting team supporting a high growth organization that is radically changing the biotech industry. Working at Moderna's new state-of-the-art, LEED certified, cGMP manufacturing facility in Norwood, MA. This 200k sq. foot campus is critical as we continue to move more of our therapies into the clinic and require in-house manufacturing. We need a seasoned Cost/Plant Accountant to support manufacturing operations, supply chain management and facilities for this site. Responsibilities will focus on the areas of inventory, cost of goods and fixed assets.

Here's What You'll Do:
  • Maintain standard costs for all raw materials, WIP, semi-finished and finished goods processes
  • Maintain standard cost system to ensure accuracy of inventory valuation and support annual manufacturing cost standard updates
  • Monitor inventory transactions and processes including scrap, inventory, cycle counts and cost of goods to ensure accuracy and compliance with corporate policies
  • Assist in month-end closing, prepare journal entries as necessary for inventory, cost of goods, and fixed assets
  • Prepare general ledger reconciliations for all inventory and cost of goods accounts
  • Prepare and analyze department expense variances (actual to budgets/forecasts)
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain Management and Manufacturing departments to discuss and resolve issues in areas such as production, purchasing, accounts payable, receiving, shipping, and other
  • Prepare and verify product costs in support of all cost-based pricing contracts, intercompany transfer pricing and shipping valuations
  • Create and maintain purchase price variance reports and other cost/inventory reports.
  • Maintain internal control documentation
  • Prepare for and participate in internal and external reviews and audits
  • Support in the preparation of annual budgets and short-term forecasts.
  • Assist with the day-to-day accounting activities where needed
  • Work on special projects as required


Here's What You'll Bring to the Table:
  • BS/BA in Accounting/Finance and five years of relevant accounting experience, including experience in a costing role
  • Experience in a process manufacturing environment and a general understanding of discrete manufacturing
  • Public company experience a plus, with a working knowledge of cGMP
  • Knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • SAP experience highly desired
  • Strong communication skills, ability to present financial information in a meaningful understandable way
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently and collaboratively and strong organizational skills are essential
  • Ability to work in a time-sensitive and high-volume environment
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite and related tools
