Postdoctoral Researcher- Cognitive Neuroscience

This position involves developing, running and analyzing data on projects, and presenting the findings in peer-reviewed manuscripts and at conferences. The research combines behavior measures, eye tracking, EEG, and physiology with a multimodal MRI approach, FMRI and DTI, using univariate and multivariate approaches. Research projects will center on understanding spatial reasoning, motivation, attention, learning, and optimizing cognitive skills. There may be other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum qualifications:

A Ph.D. in cognitive science, cognitive neuroscience, psychology, or a related field (e.g, computer science) by the time of employment. Knowledge of cognitive neuroscience, which can be demonstrated by a track record of scholarship including peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience collecting fMRI, EEG, or eye tracking data.
  • Experience performing analysis on EEG, eye tracking (EyeLink preferred) fMRI and DTI data using standard neuroimaging software (e.g., FSL, AFNI preferred). Perform basic and advanced data analysis of behavioral, eye tracking and/or MRI data using excel, SPSS, and other software (e.g., Matlab, Python, R).
  • Experience writing peer reviewed publications.
  • Experience programming and administering computerized psychological experiments on E-prime or Psychtoolbox and with one or more scripting languages (e.g., Matlab, Python, Bash, R).

The postdoctoral researcher will engage in interdisciplinary research in Cognitive Neuroscience, interact with research groups from multiple disciplines to facilitate interdisciplinary research activities. The postdoctoral researcher will work with faculty in the Cognitive and Brain Sciences and Clinical areas of the Psychology Department and with faculty in the Center for Computation and Technology. Research activities will align with research of Dr. Melissa Beck’s, Dr. Steven Greening’s and Dr. Alex Cohen’s research laboratories.
