Postdoctoral Fellow - Sodora Lab
Seattle Children’s Research Institute (SCRI) was founded as an independent non-profit organization devoted to the research to reduce the burden and mortality associated with childhood illnesses. SCRI is closely affiliated with the University of Washington, and benefits from the expertise of a number of key collaborations. Our research facility is located in the fast-developing South Lake Union “biotechnology hub” that is home to many research organizations on the forefront of life science research. In addition to an exciting work environment, SCRI offers a competitive benefits package.
Dr. Don Sodora is a Professor at Seattle Children’s Research Institute (Center for Global Infectious Diseases). The Sodora Lab is focused on understanding HIV-associated pathogenesis and transmission. The laboratory utilizes both HIV infection of patients and SIV infection of different monkey models to achieve this goal.
A fully supported postdoctoral scientist position is currently available in the Sodora Laboratory. The successful candidate will be involved in studying one of the currently funded projects that focus on: HIV/SIV pathogenesis, HIV vaccine design and/or assessing novel viral reservoirs. One available project will evaluate the immunologic and microbiome changes in the liver that are associated with SIV/HIV infection, immune activation and the ability of the liver to serve as a viral reservoir during anti-retroviral therapy. A second project will be involved in the development of a novel HIV vaccine delivery system to optimize mucosal immune responses. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in Immunology. Additional expertise in Virology or vaccinology is an advantage. We are seeking applicants who are highly motivated, passionate, and innovative, who are not afraid to take risks and who thrive in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment. Seattle Children’s Research Institute is a thriving research environment with an excellent group of postdoctoral researchers that engage in various activities organized by the PhD/MD Association (PMA).
