A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Elizabeth White, Ph.D., in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine.  https://www.med.upenn.edu/whitelab/

The laboratory studies the molecular biology of human papillomaviruses (HPVs).  We have previously used systematic protein-protein interaction and transcriptional analyses to conduct broad studies on papillomaviruses and the host cells they infect.  We continue to investigate the host cell targets identified in these analyses as well as to initiate new systematic approaches to identify and study viral targets.  Our goal is to understand the molecular mechanisms by which HPVs modulate host immune responses and cause oncogenic transformation, and projects are available in each of these broad areas.  The laboratory routinely uses molecular and cell biological techniques as well as computational biology, mass spectrometry, high-throughput screening approaches, and more to investigate HPV biology. For an example of our recent work, see PNAS (2019) 116:7033-7042.

The Department of Otorhinolaryngology within the Perelman School of Medicine provides an outstanding environment for postdoctoral training.  Our departmental colleagues include world-class physicians and basic scientists and our laboratory space is adjacent to the Department of Microbiology.  Penn is also home to many outstanding tumor virology laboratories, the Abramson Cancer Center, and the Tumor Virology Program.  There are abundant opportunities for collaboration with these and other groups at Penn, within the department of Otorhinolaryngology, and at neighboring institutions.

Qualifications: A recent or forthcoming doctoral degree (Ph.D. and/or M.D.) in the biological sciences and expertise in virology, cancer biology, or a related field, is required.  Candidates must also have a collegial attitude, strong work ethic, and excellent communication and technical skills.

Contact: Please e-mail a cover letter, CV, and the names and contact information for three references to:
