Assistant/Associate/Full Professor Position Announcement Tenured or Tenure-Track Faculty Positions in Infectious Diseases Department of Veterinary Pathobiology College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences Texas A&M University


The Department of Veterinary Pathobiology, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Texas A&M University (http://vetmed.tamu.edu/vtpb), invites applications for two tenure-track or tenured faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level within the broad field of infectious diseases. Candidates using molecular, cellular and/or genetic approaches to investigate microbial pathogenesis, host-pathogen interactions, or immune responses to pathogens and vaccination are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate(s) will be expected to establish and maintain an energetic, extramurally well-funded research program; engage in interdisciplinary and collaborative research; and teach in the undergraduate, graduate and veterinary professional programs.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in virology, microbiology, parasitology, immunology or other related field. Individuals whose research focuses on high consequence pathogens are especially encouraged to apply. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with experience. Candidates to the rank of Associate Professor or Professor are expected to have an established, federally funded research program. Candidates to the rank of Assistant Professor should have a successful postdoctoral training experience with a superb record of research excellence and strong potential for obtaining competitive federal grants to support their research. A strong track record of peer-reviewed publications and evidence of potential for teaching and mentorship are also required. The successful applicants must possess excellent interpersonal and communications skills and a demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere.

The Department of Veterinary Pathobiology includes 58 faculty members with diverse backgrounds and research interests. Signature research programs in the college include: Infectious Diseases and Biodefense; Biomedical Genomics; Veterinary Clinical Research; Cardiovascular Sciences; Neuroscience; Reproductive Biology; and Toxicology, Oncology, and Environmental Health Sciences. The Department strongly encourages collaborative research activity and is a role model for “One Health’ through its research affiliations with a variety of sister institutions, including the Texas A&M Health Science Center, Texas Medical Center, the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, the Texas Heart Institute, and the Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory. State-of-the-art core facilities, including live animal imaging, flow cytometry, genomics, BSL-2 and -3 labs and excellent AAALAC-accredited ABSL-2 and -3 facilities are available at the University. A brand-new AgBSL-3 facility is in the final stages of construction and it is scheduled to be operational in Fall 2019.
