Multiple Positions in Computational Biology, Virology, and Glycoproteomics

Influenza Systems Biology Lab

Multiple postdoc positions and one senior research associate position are available in the areas of Computational Biology, Virology and Glycoproteomics, at the Influenza Systems Biology Laboratory, which is affiliated across Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology, School of Medicine, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, College of Engineering ,  Department of Veterinary Pathobiology, College of Veterinary Medicine, and Informatics Institute at the University of Missouri-Columbia. The lab is physically located in the Bond Life Science Center. The mission of this lab is to study ecology, evolution, and host-pathogen interactions for emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, especially influenza viruses by developing and applying integrated, multi-scale, and evidence-based approaches that combine laboratory, clinical and computational methods.

Postdoc Positions in Computational Biology: The responsibilities of the position are to develop and apply computational algorithms to predict phenotypes (e.g. antigenicity, replication ability, receptor binding preference, transmission risks, and pathogenesis risks) of influenza viruses using genomic sequences, to design influenza antigens, and/or to study evolutionary pathways of influenza viruses.

Postdoc Positions in Virology: The responsibilities of the position are to develop and apply novel methods to detect influenza antigenic variants directly using clinical samples, to develop novel influenza vaccines, and/or to identify and characterize virus and/or host biomarkers (RNA sequence, protein sequence, or glycosylation patterns) determining influenza host tropisms, pathogenesis, transmission, antigenicity, and/or vaccine efficacy.

Postdoc Position in Glycoproteomics: The responsibilities of this position are to determine antigenicity and immunogenicity of microbial glycoproteins (including influenza viruses) and to develop vaccines by using glycoproteomics approaches.

Senior Research Associate Position: The responsibilities of this position are to maintain routine lab operations, to help prepare documents to meet research compliance requirement, and to manage and train student and research staff to achieve research goals.
