The Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies at the University of Sydney is one of the largest and preeminent faculties of its kind in the world; ranked in the global top 40 (QS 2018). For the past 20 years, the University has been undertaking leading research in Biomedical Engineering, in partnership with the University’s prestigious Faculty of Medicine and Health. This role presents a unique opportunity to bring together existing expertise from across the University, including an established undergraduate programme in Biomedical Engineering, and build new capabilities in ways that will help to re-imagine the future of health care.

We are seeking an inaugural Head of School to lead this exciting academic venture. The ideal candidate will have an impressive track record of establishing and growing leading research and teaching programs. They will have strategic leadership skills and an outstanding ability to manage stakeholder relations on behalf of an institution or school. We are looking for someone with an openness to engagement and creativity; someone who operates at the forefront of innovation in their area of Biomedical Engineering.

Term and remuneration

It is the intention that the Head of School term be for four years. This will be constructed as an initial two year appointment followed by a performance evaluation and a potential further two year appointment. This position will also be supported by an underlying continuing position. A competitive salary will be negotiated with the successful applicant. Relocation assistance may also be provided if required.
