Are you a top-level Scientist seeking a career at one of the preeminent biomedical research institutes in the Nation and the world? This position offers a unique opportunity to serve as the Director of the Tobacco Regulatory Science Program (TRSP) and the NIH liaison to the Center for Tobacco Products (CTP) at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration {FDA). This position is located in the Office of Disease Prevention (ODP), Division of Program Coordination, Planning, and Strategic Initiatives (DPCPSI), Office of the Director, National Institutes of Health (NIH). The incumbent reports to the Director, ODP, also the Associate Director for Prevention, NIH, and utilizes his/her expertise to provide scientific and executive leadership in the implementation of a trans-NIH, inter-agency program of tobacco regulatory research. In partnership with CTP, the incumbent oversees the development of a research portfolio that informs, supports and defends FDA regulatory decision-making and national health policy regarding existing, new and emerging tobacco products. This is a vital position within NIH designed to develop a comprehensive research agenda in tobacco regulatory science and reduce the Nation's burden of tobacco-related death and disease.To accomplish these duties, the ideal candidate would have expertise in preventive medicine, public health, or a related health science; be a recognized national leader in tobacco regulatory science with expert knowledge of biomedical research; demonstrated ability to integrate work from multiple disciplines across a spectrum of basic and applied sciences; possess long-standing experience at a senior level in the management of research programs and large inter-­organization agreements, including experience in developing policies and procedures; and exceptional ability to collaborate within and across organizations.
