Post-Doctoral Research Fellow Neuroscientist – Rush Alzheimer’s Disease Center

Over the past decades, the RADC has carried out numerous community-based clinical-pathologic cohort studies to better understand Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders. Now, we’re continuing an effort to expand our Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) platform to discover molecular biomarkers and genetic drivers for early diagnosis and therapeutic interventions of Alzheimer's disease. To help us do it, we are seeking to fill three new roles.

Post-Doctoral Scientist – NGS and Molecular Genomics

Responsibilities

  • Develop new NGS and single cell omics capabilities and workflows
  • Conduct day-to-day NGS experiments, problem solving and work prioritization
  • Run bioinformatics analysis and quality control for NGS datasets to ensure data quality
  • Calculate, graph and compile NGS data and present results in scientific meetings
  • NGS capacity planning, billing and writing scientific reports

Requirements

  • PhD or equivalent degree in the fields of molecular biology, genetics, functional genomics, biochemistry, bioinformatics, neuroscience or related fields
  • Extensive demonstrated experience in molecular biology and genetics/genomics including DNA/RNA isolation and manipulation, vector cloning, PCR, qPCR, NGS library prep, QC and sequencing
  • Experience with single cell multi-omics and 10X Genomics technologies
  • Proficiency with CRISPR genome engineering is a plus
  • Proficiency with bioinformatics software packages (such as R, Python and JMP) is a plus

Lab Research Assistant 2 – NGS and Molecular Genomics

Responsibilities

  • Design experiments and manage daily work flow with minimal supervision
  • Carry out DNA/RNA isolation, NGS library prep and QC manually or using robotics
  • Operate and maintain NovaSeq 6000 sequencer, fragment analyzer, 10X Chromium Controller, Chemagic 360 and Zephyr robotics
  • Analyze and troubleshoot qPCR, RNA/DNA, NGS library and sequencing QC data

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with five years of laboratory experience required; master’s degree with three years’ experience preferred
  • Master or bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, genetics, functional genomics, biochemistry, bioinformatics, neuroscience or related field strongly preferred
  • Extensive demonstrated experience in molecular biology including DNA/RNA isolation and manipulation, vector cloning, PCR and qPCR
  • Experience with NGS library prep, QC and sequencing is highly desired

Lab Research Technician 3 – Molecular and Cell Biology

Responsibilities

  • Prepare tissue culture reagents/dishes, stock and organize TC rooms  
  • Conduct human stem cell and fibroblast cultures, iPSC reprograming, banking and neural differentiation
  • Perform ICC, flow cytometry and RT-qPCR to characterize cultured cells

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in cell/molecular biology or related field
  • Two to three years of experience required
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience with cell cultures, ICC, flow cytometry and molecular biology is a must
  • Experience in developing and running cell-based assays and analyzing screening data
  • Experience with stem cell culture and in vitro differentiation is strongly preferred
