Postdoctoral Research Associate

Founded in 1764, Brown University is a leading Ivy League research university and home to world-renowned faculty and scientists. The Division of Biology and Medicine at Brown University is composed of fourteen clinical departments situated throughout Brown's seven teaching hospital partners, including the Warren Alpert Medical School.

Several postdoctoral research associate positions are immediately available in Brown-affiliated laboratories of the Division of Surgical Research, Department of Surgery, Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI.  The successful candidates will receive an academic appointment through The Division of Biology and Medicine at Brown and can expect a competitive salary and benefit package.

The projects include studies of epigenetic, immune and inflammatory mechanisms.  Applications are encouraged from those with interests in neutrophil biology and phagocytosis and particularly those interested in microbiome studies. The disease focus is on asthma, lung fibrosis and sepsis. 

Potential candidates will have a PhD degree in molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, epigenetics, bioengineering, or a relevant discipline.  Perfect candidates will have prior experience with tissue culture, molecular biology techniques including PCR and pyrosequencing, flow cytometry, transduction and related techniques, as well as overexpression and purification of proteins. Those with experience in models of lung disease are encouraged to apply. The positions require the ability to work independently. Excellent communication skills are a must.  Candidates should eligible for employment in the US, and prepared to commit to 2-3 years of full-time research.
