A Postdoctoral Fellow ("postdoc") is a professional apprenticeship designed to provide recent Ph.D. recipients with an opportunity to develop further the research skills acquired in their doctoral programs or to learn new research techniques, in preparation for an academic or research career. In the process of further developing their own research skills, it is expected that Postdoctoral Fellows will also play a significant role in the performance of research at the University and augment the role of graduate faculty in providing research instruction to graduate students. The employee will report to Dr. Mukherjee and will work with a team of graduate students and Research Associate Professors. This individual will support projects through original research, collaborations with other team members, and helping students. The individual will also help in future proposal writing and in manuscript writing.

The principal research responsibility will be to conduct experiments that explore CAR T cells; combination therapies, examine mechanisms of immune response to therapy. The employee will comply with Dr. Mukherjee’s overall research direction and will comply with all University regulations. Will carry out research that contributes original findings in the field of immunotherapy of cancer. The postdoc will publish research articles and review articles in collaboration with Dr. Mukherjee’s team. This position will require only minimal travel to scientific conferences to present original scientific results.

The postdoc will be mentored to write postdoctoral research proposals for extramural funding.

Minimum Experience/Education
The Postdoctoral appointee must have recently (within the last eight years) been awarded a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., Sc.D., M.D.)

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

  • PhD in Immunology, Mol Cell Biology, Biochemistry or related disciplines. Specializing in cancer immunology.
  • Strong experimental background with evidence of experimental skills related to cancer immunology and must have publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Skill in Animal Models of cancer will be a plus.
