Overview
The Sather lab is currently recruiting an energetic, highly motivated postdoctoral researcher for a project in HIV-1 vaccines. The goal of this project is to understand the kinetics, ontogeny, and evolution of B cell receptor (BCR) responses during vaccination. We seek to define how vaccines drive Fab evolution and class switch kinetics, and to determine the functional consequences of these processes on vaccine-elicited antibody immunity. We emphasize technology driven approaches and heavily utilize NGS Rep-Seq in our studies.
We are looking for creative, independent researchers who thrive in a fast-paced environment and will train the right candidate. Background in immunology, infectious diseases, or NGS-based approaches is preferred; enthusiasm, energy, and motivation are essential.
Requirements
Required Education/Experience:
- Ph.D. in immunology, cell biology, or related fields
- Strong research track record, as evidenced by publications and presentations
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Desire and ability to work in a highly collaborative research environment
- Experience with the major immunological assays, NGS, and Flow cytometry (etc.) is preferred
- Strong foundational basic laboratory skill set (e.g., molecular biology and cell culture techniques)
Preferred:
- Previous experience conducting research in the pediatric arena
- Experience in protocol and manuscript development and in grant writing
