Assistant Adjunct Professor

The Center for Cerebrovascular Research (CCR) in the Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care at the University of California, San Francisco, is seeking outstanding candidates to fill two new positions of Assistant Adjunct Professor. The CCR studies a range of topics related to cerebrovascular diseases, with several NIH-funded clinical and basic science research projects studying occlusive cerebrovascular diseases and brain vascular malformations, which are a major cause of hemorrhagic stroke and neurological morbidity in children and young adults. There are allied and collaborating faculty in a number of neuroscience and vascular biology fields. The setting is ideal for broad exposure to many aspects of cerebrovascular disease and pathophysiology. More information can be found on our website: http://ccr.ucsf.edu.

It is essential that candidates have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team consisting of a diverse group of scientists with varying backgrounds and expertise. The candidate should demonstrate leadership, independent and collaborative research in areas related to cerebrovascular biology and cerebrovascular diseases, and a strong publication record. Successful candidates will interact with existing faculty and are expected to develop an independent research portfolio.

Successful candidates must possess:

  • PhD, MD, or equivalent doctoral level degree in a related field.

  • Hands-on experience in diverse molecular biology and high throughput genomics techniques (qRT-PCR, genotyping, sequencing)
  • Knowledge of computational analysis, programming and bioinformatics for gene expression, genetic association, and high throughput sequencing analysis (e.g. exome, RNAseq, somatic mutation identification)

Interested applicants should apply online at: https://aprecruit.ucsf.edu/apply/JPF02318.
