Director, Immuno-Oncology Center

The Lerner Research Institute, home to laboratory, translational and clinical research at Cleveland Clinic, in collaboration with the nationally ranked Taussig Cancer Institute, invites applications for the position of Director of the Immuno-Oncology Center.

The Director will be responsible for the design and implementation of clinical trials testing the efficacy of immunotherapy-based strategies in cancer patients at the Cleveland Clinic. The Director will also be responsible for establishing a translational research program focused on mechanistic- and discovery-based studies to support ongoing and future trials within the Center and will work closely with investigators leading ongoing pre-clinical and immuno-oncology clinical trials.  The ideal candidate for this leadership position will be a recognized physician-scientist with a distinguished record of accomplishment and leadership in leading clinical trials in immuno-oncology. Candidates must have a MD/PhD or MD degree, a strong publication record, and current external research support and will be eligible for the rank of Professor at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine.  The position offers generous start-up funds and competitive resources to develop a clinical program in immuno-oncology and a team of 4-5 investigators focused on research in the application of immune therapy in cancer patients.

The Center will be expected to establish close collaborations with clinicians and researchers in the Taussig Cancer Institute (https://my.clevelandclinic.org/departments/cancer), including the Translational Hematology and Oncology Research program (https://my.clevelandclinic.org/departments/cancer/depts/thor#overview-tab). The Taussig Cancer Institute (TCI), ranked #5 in the US in the 2018 US News and World Report survey, is one of largest cancer centers in the United States, serving 8500 new patients yearly with 21 multidisciplinary programs and more than 300 open interventional clinical trials. Together the Lerner Research Institute (LRI) and TCI comprise a strongly collaborative research environment with substantial core facilities and translational research potential and are an important and integral component of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) funded Case Comprehensive Cancer Center of Cleveland.

With 170 independent fundamental laboratories, over 2000 employees, and research expenditures of $300 million per year, the Lerner Research Institute (https://www.lerner.ccf.org) is at the forefront of discovery science, fosters translational research and accelerates innovation for patient care.  The LRI is undergoing an exciting period of strategic expansion with major new initiatives including the Center for Therapeutics Discovery, the Center for Microbiome and Human Health, and a new enterprise-wide biorepository that will expand translational research capacity.
