We are actively seeking a postdoctoral fellow to conduct research on in vitro evolution and selection by phage display. An ideal candidate will have experience in phage display, other selection techniques, and/or nanotechnology. Postdoctoral Scholar appointments are intended to provide a full-time training program of advanced academic preparation and research training under the mentorship of a faculty member. The appointee will engage in one or more of the following: selection / evolution of binding reagents, bioconjugation and chemical modification of phages, nanoparticle synthesis and characterization, and interdisciplinary research.

Our group works to understand molecular evolution and fitness landscapes, and to apply this knowledge to create reagents for biotechnology and biomedicine. Visit the Chen lab homepage for more information (https://labs.chem.ucsb.edu/chen/irene) and review the recent paper by Peng and Chen (2019). Our lab will be moving from UCSB to the UCLA Dept. of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering in early 2020.
