We are committed to comprehensive patient care, high caliber research and innovative medical education for medical students, post-doctoral trainees and professional colleagues. The OSUCCC – James is the only cancer program in the United States that features a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center aligned with a nationally ranked academic medical center and a freestanding cancer hospital on the campus of one of the nation’s largest public universities.

Post Doctoral Researchers - Tumor immunology and immunotherapy – Regulatory T cells

Description:

Several exciting postdoctoral positions are currently available in the Li Lab at the newly established Institute for Immuno-Oncology (IIO) to build on our work focusing on mechanisms utilized by regulatory T (Treg) cells to impede anti-tumor immunity and develop novel approaches to successfully subvert intratumoral Treg functions in order to enhance responses to immunotherapy. Specifically, it would seek to uncover the role of selective RNA-binding proteins and chromatin modulators in regulating the formation, stability and function of Tregs in cancer. It will involve both basic and translational tumor immunology with the goal of developing new treatments for patients. Our over-arching research interests focus on developing better immunotherapeutics against cancer by reprogramming the tumor microenvironment, targeting regulatory T cells, platelets and the unfolded protein response. Successful applicants will use a wide range of cutting-edge genomic tools and approaches including Atac-seq, single-cell RNA-seq, cellular and molecular immunology and in vivo studies.

Job Duties:

The Postdoctoral Fellows are expected to work closely with senior members of the lab, as well as independently drive their projects. They will support the research and activities of the lab under the direction and mentorship of Dr. Li. Fellows will bring their skills, knowledge and experience to be actively involved in the development of novel strategies to improve immunotherapies for solid cancers. Other duties involve participation in lab meetings, group meetings, and where necessary department meetings. Additionally, candidates are expected to present their work at seminars in situ, scientific conferences and to be motivated to contribute scientific publications. Moreover, candidates would be encouraged and supported to apply for independent funding.

Qualifications:

We seek to recruit highly motivated, creative and collaborative scientists who can work independently and as part of a team. Candidates with a solid background and working experience in cellular immunology and tumor immunology techniques are highly desired. However, exceptional fellows with research experience in a related discipline will be considered.

Highly-motivated candidates:

  • Should have a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in Immunology or a closely related field with research experience.
  • Have strong laboratory, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Previous experience with multi-parameter flow cytometry, mouse modeling/handling are highly desirable, as well as knowledge of T lymphocytes – the latter is not essential.
  • Should be highly driven, scientifically curious and capable of working independently.
  • Should have demonstrated experience or strong interest in common molecular biology and biochemistry techniques.

To Apply:

Interested candidates should send a single PDF with a cover letter, CV, and names of three references to Zihai Li, MD, PhD c/o Ms. Tamra Brooks @Tamra.Brooks@osumc.edu. Please include the job title in the subject line.

Qualified candidates should apply online at: http://wexnermedical.osu.edu/careers. Enter keyword or job ID# 448184.
