A postdoctoral scholar position is available to work on a project for neuroprotection therapies that target brain including stroke, vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease. We use a multidisciplinary approach that involves molecular biology, biochemical techniques and stem cell transplantation into mice that are predisposed to develop neurovascular and neurodegenerative diseases.
We seek to identify the best sources of stem cells for various therapies, combinatory therapies strategies, that will synergize with stem cell modalities, determine the mechanisms involved in stem cell migration, role of the inflammatory components that contribute to the symptoms of these diseases, anti-inflammatory role of stem cells and reducing blood-brain barrier damage.
Preferred Candidates will be a Ph.D., M.D., or both with a relevant background either in AD, or stroke research with mouse models. Required techniques are MCAO stroke surgery, stereotaxic injections, confocal microscopy, western blotting and relevant behavioral studies for stroke or AD. Candidates must be proficient in data analysis and writing manuscripts for publications. Salary for this position will be commensurate with experience, expertise and Tulane Guidelines.
