Multiple Postdoctoral Positions Available
Postdoctoral positions are available in Dr. Jiang Zhu’s laboratory for highly motivated candidates who are interested in vaccine development for HIV-1, HCV, Ebola, Zika, Dengue, Flu, RSV, MERS-CoV, Lassa, and other important viral pathogens. Candidates with prior experience in malaria and tuberculosis vaccine development are also encouraged to apply. Dr. Zhu holds a joint appointment in the Department of Integrative Structural and Computational Biology (ISCB) and the Department of Immunology and Microbiology (IMM) at The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, CA (https://www.scripps.edu/). Potential projects may involve (1) immunological analysis of vaccine-induced response in small animals and non-human primates, (2) antibody isolation using antigen-specific sorting, functional screening of cultured B cells, and antibody library display, (3) protein- and mRNA-lipid formulation development and testing for vaccine applications, (4) structure-based vaccine design with epitope scaffolding, antigen stabilization, and nanoparticle display, and (5) structural characterization of antigen-antibody complexes by X-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy (EM).
Successful candidates will have a recent Ph.D. in microbiology, immunology, vaccinology, and structural biology. Prior research experience in live virus culture, animal study, antibody isolation will be a plus. Candidates at both junior and senior levels are welcome to apply.
