Job Details

The Lilly Real World Data (RWD) Team in Indianapolis, IN develops healthcare data solutions that deliver meaningful scientific insights to meet patient needs. Our team shares a passion for innovative approaches to discovering and capturing novel data to address gaps in evidence that supports decision-making in drug development and delivery of healthcare. This role is for someone who has curiosity, is innovative, and is driven to create a more holistic view of the patient (e.g. data detective/forensics). The RWD Team leverages their experience to bring an understanding of the healthcare setting that ensures data are used appropriately for insights across Lilly's therapeutic areas. This team applies concepts, theories, and practices to real world data to achieve better health outcomes.

  • Harness clinical and biologic or genomic data to support discovery of new therapies or guide basic science and research.
  • Transform clinical and biological/genomic data sources to analysis ready data sets enabling rapid generation of evidence.
  • Apply the spectrum of analytic methods to data based on understanding of the healthcare system to deliver real world evidence and interpret results to better enable drug development teams. Ability to deliver right-sized results with speed and value to the business.
  • Collaborate with bioinformaticists to support drug development of precision medicines, building cross-walks between clinical concepts and genetic content or other molecular/cellular concepts (e.g. ‘omics, human biology and chemistry, and physiology).

Basic Qualifications

  • An advanced degree in Informatics (MS or PhD) with a BS or 3+ years' experience in a Clinical Discipline (e.g., pharmacy, nursing) is required.
  • 1-5 years' experience in healthcare and/or external health information or data management, specifically experience with the Clinical and Health Information tools and analytics used (i.e. R, Python, SAS, and SQL).

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Preference may be given to candidates with postdoctoral training or work experience in research with focus on computational methods, tools, and databases utilized in health outcomes.
  • Expertise with clinical vocabularies, terminologies, or coding systems that are structured to represent the care and treatment of patients.
  • Capable of implementing epidemiological analysis methodologies. Strong health informatics and programming skills. Excellent programming skills in R and/or SAS and in web programming standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in building analysis methods and systems toward processing, organizing, analyzing, and visualizing clinical data and information from disparate data sources.
  • Understanding of software development in clinical research and production environments.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, innovative thinking with strong problem solving skills.
