Job Details

AVAVA, Inc is a medical device company with a current focus in the Dermatology market space.  Among the founders of AVAVA are Dr. Rox Anderson, Dr. Dieter Manstein, and Dr. Henry Chan from Massachusetts General Hospital and Hong Kong University, who are pioneering researchers in the field of laser dermatology and have a successful track record of serial entrepreneurship. AVAVA is working on developing treatments for dermatologic conditions, one of them being excess melanin in human skin. As part of its effort to develop a commercial technology, the company is conducting research into mechanisms of interaction of laser energy with tissue, and novel methods of imaging through scattering media. AVAVA is looking for a qualified Postdoctoral candidate to work on these areas of experimental research in context of the company’s therapeutic goals. The selected Postdoctoral Research Fellow will get an opportunity to conduct research that is integral to the clinical development and commercialization efforts of the company, while also interacting with top researchers at academic institutions in the Boston area.

The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. degree in physics, biophysics, or biomedical engineering, with a demonstrated record of publications. The position requires a deep understanding of the mechanisms of laser-tissue interaction, beam propagation through tissue, correction of aberrations, and biomedical imaging techniques.
