Faculty Positions (all ranks) at the S.M. Wu School of Intelligent Engineering

The S. M. Wu School of Intelligent Engineering is newly formed by the South China University of Technology and S. M. Wu Manufacturing Research Center at the University of Michigan, which is named after the late professor Shien-Ming Wu, who is the world-renowned scholar in intelligent manufacturing area, a former professor of the University of Michigan Professor, and a director of National Manufacturing Engineering Research Center. The school is one of the first three schools in the international campus in South China University of Technology. Facing towards the change of Chinese manufacturing industry, the school would seize the development opportunities of Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macau Bay that provides a joint platform for cutting-edge science and engineering research, carry out basic frontier science and technology research around emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, robotics, intelligent manufacturing, intelligent healthcare, intelligent cities, intelligent devices, etc. Under the new Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macau Bay directive, the region is quickly becoming a magnet for developing the next generation technologies. There are tremendous opportunities for research, engineering practice and entrepreneurship.

As a newly formed school of the international campus in South China University of Technology, S.M. WU school of Intelligent Engineering would offer solid and comprehensive fundamental education and in-depth, up-to-date research experience by inheriting and carrying forward the fine tradition of SCUT. On the other hand, the school would introduce new teaching methods so that it would enable students to gain an international perspective, become a new generation of intelligent engineers and lead social development by cooperating with internationally leading universities.

Therefore, S. M. Wu School of Intelligent Engineering focuses on selecting and hiring worldwide researchers with high academic attainments or academic potential in relevant disciplines.

1.Key Disciplines of Recruitment

Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Electrical Engineering, Information System Engineering, Robotics and automation, internet of things, advanced manufacturing, as well as sensors and actuators, or closely related areas.

Outstanding scholars in mechanical engineering, automation engineering, electrical engineering, information system engineering, software engineering and intelligent engineering related fields, as well as interdisciplinary fields are welcomed to apply for corresponding positions.

2.Positions

a)Professor: the school invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions at all ranks, including assistant professor, associate professor, full professor, and chair professor.

b)Post-doctoral researcher: The post-doctoral positions are set as follows: Class I, class II, and class III. The corresponding post-doctoral positions are employed according to candidates’ educational experience, innovative ability, academic achievements, development potential, and other requirements. And we would classify the corresponding positions and appraisal management.
