The Role:

Moderna Oncology is seeking a talented, experienced, and motivated Scientist to join our oncology translational research team focused on mRNA-based immunotherapies targeting hematological malignancies including AML. The successful candidate will share our commitment to understanding the biological principles that drive response to our therapies. You will contribute to the design and development of assays to measure responses to our cancer immunotherapies, and will generate, analyze and report data derived from patient samples. You should be both a great team member and have a demonstrable record of independent research accomplishments.

Here's What You'll Do:
  • Help identify, develop and optimize fit-for-purpose biomarker assays primarily focused on flow-cytometry based methods to measure disease characteristics and responses to our therapies in patients
  • Analyze and interpret and clinical biomarker assay readouts and contribute analyses to high quality study reports under ambitious timelines
  • Work with contract research organizations, interface with internal and external scientific partners, and coordinate activities and timelines with clinical development teams to ensure execution of biomarker capabilities to support clinical studies
  • Routinely present work progress to project teams; provide scientific and technical support on multidisciplinary project teams
  • Maintain expertise in the field of immuno-oncology as it pertains to biomarker discovery and use, as well as patient outcomes


Here's What You'll Bring to the Table:
  • PhD with 3+ years relevant experience, industry experience is preferable
  • Background in immuno-oncology and hematological malignancies including AML
  • Must have experience (2+ years) with T cell biology, cytokine assessment, immune cell isolation and characterization in the clinical setting
  • Broad experience in other cellular and molecular biology principals and techniques including ELISAs, multi-parameter flow cytometry, mass cytometry/CytoF, MSD assays, Luminex, Western blot; gene expression by qPCR, NanoString, RNA-seq; cell culture and cell transduction
  • Experience with standard programs for data analysis and visualization/presentation
  • Attention to detail, scientific versatility, flexibility, results oriented, effective communication skills
  • Experience with assay development and validation under CAP/ CLIA and/or GLP standards a plus
