Radiation Oncology Postdoctoral Fellowship
A postdoctoral fellowship is available in the Research Division of the Department of Radiation Oncology, University of Pennsylvania. The successful candidate will have 0-3 years of postdoctoral experience and he/she will work with a team of biologists, physicians, physicists to evaluate a revolutionary new technology in delivery of particle beam (Proton) radiotherapy to tumor and normal tissues. The project will involve the study of interactions between this modality and the immune system and investigation of potential mechanisms behind differential effects on normal vs. tumor tissues using rodent and potentially other models of cancer. Work will be conducted under the combined mentorship of Costas Koumenis, PhD and Theresa Busch, PhD, respective Director and Associate Director of the Research Division.
This position is expected to participate in laboratory management, including documentation of protocols, ordering of supplies, maintenance of equipment, and supervision of students. Authorship of manuscripts and presentation of study results are expected.
Qualifications: We seek a highly-motivated scientist with a Ph.D. in a biology-related discipline. Prior experience with handling of small animals (rodents) is required, and skills in critical thinking and scientific writing are essential. Experience with assays in molecular biology and immunology will also be considered. The proven ability to work well in a team setting is required.
