Applications are being accepted for postdoctoral candidates who are interested in investigating prostate inflammation and disease during infection with the medically important pathogen Toxoplasma gondii. Related to the malaria parasite, Toxoplasma causes serious opportunistic disease in congenitally infected infants and in immunocompromised (HIV/AIDS) patients. This is an NIH-funded position in the laboratories of Drs. Gustavo Arrizabalaga and Travis Jerde. Projects include investigating propagation and development of the parasite n the prostate of animal models and the correlation between Toxoplasma infection and prostate disease in humans.

The position requires a Ph.D., expertise in cell/molecular biology or biochemistry, and excellent communication skills. Experience in microbiology and cell biology is a plus, but not required.
