Associate Scientist/Scientist, Biochemical and Cellular Pharmacology (Biologics)


Description

We have an opening for a talented Associate Scientist/Scientist to join the Biochemical and Cellular Pharmacology Department within Genentech’s Research and Early Development (gRED) organization.  The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, optimizing and executing biochemical and cell based functional assays to identify and advance lead biologics in the Immunology, Inflammation, Cancer Immunology and Neuroscience therapeutic areas. More specifically, functioning as a member of multi-disciplinary project teams, consisting of representatives from Antibody Engineering, Protein Chemistry, Therapeutic Areas and Translational Research groups, the individual will be expected to conceive and conduct studies to interrogate the pharmacological properties, mechanism of action and immunogenicity of large molecule drug candidates. In addition, the candidate will have opportunities to develop physiologically relevant in vitro and ex vivo systems to study systems immunology.


Who You Are

  • A Ph.D. in a biology related discipline. A Ph.D. in immunology is preferred.
  • At least 4 years (< 4 years for Associate Scientist) post-doctoral research experiences in academia, biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry with evidence of relevant high-profile publications. 
  • Research experience/expertise in innate/adaptive immunity or immunology related disease therapeutic areas such as autoimmunity or cancer immunotherapy is preferred.
  • Direct experience/proficiency in handling primary immune cells is desired.
  • Basic understanding in human genetics, transcriptome profiling or computational biology is a plus.
  • Familiarity with automation and high-throughput assay would be advantageous.
