Grant Funded Assistant Professor  F63400

Virginia Commonwealth University, School of Medicine, Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology has an immediate opening for an Assistant Professor to assist in the department’s research and teaching missions.  The successful candidate will have a PhD and/or MD, with several years of postdoctoral training, most of which focuses on traumatic brain injury and the use of multiple tools to assess traumatically-induced neuronal cell death and diffuse axonal injury.  It is anticipated that the successful candidate will also have experience using multiple animal models of TBI together with detailed physiological assessment.  It is anticipated that the successful candidate will support an investigative team focusing on the pathobiology and treatment of TBI, assisting with animal preparation, data generation and management, and manuscript preparation.  Although significant effort will be focused on laboratory investigation, the successful candidate will also be expected to participate, in a limited fashion, in the teaching mission of the department as it relates to gross anatomy, histology, and neuroscience.  The position offers a competitive salary and benefits package as well as the opportunity for the candidate to participate in the preparation and submission of their own individual research applications.
