Scientist Project Leader

CEPI is looking for a Scientist/Project Leader to join our growing Vaccine Science team in Oslo, Norway. If you are interested in joining the CEPI team and have the appropriate qualifications for this role, please read the detailed job description below.

OBJECTIVES

The overall goal of the CEPI Vaccine Science Team is to facilitate accelerated development of CEPI’s vaccine candidate portfolio. The team works in close collaboration with the Vaccine Development Team. We work through mapping knowledge or research gaps, identify enabling science solutions and implement programs to address research gaps through partnerships with external stakeholders. The team will ensure that scientific advice, innovation on vaccine evaluation and public health needs are integrated with product development.

The Scientist/Project Leader will be an important contributor in the Vaccine Science team. We are looking for a candidate that can perform well under pressure, who can adapt quickly and build relationships within the team with relative ease. The ability to have foresight into potentially challenging situations is important, as the Scientist/Project Leader is given a significant extent of autonomy.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Scientific advice supporting vaccine development
  • Act as preclinical, clinical/immunology and technology expert in vaccine development projects
  • Lead specific task forces, work packages or sub-projects
  • Support the process for development of new focus areas, from review of proposals to project management
  • Synthesize and prepare meeting reports and action plans at program meetings
  • Lead planning and organization of external meetings and presentations
  • Effectively manage relationships with external reviewers
  • Coordinate follow-up with applicants; responsible for high quality interactions, clear and consistent communications with applicants

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • PhD. degree in life sciences or biological sciences with relevance for vaccine development
  • Ability to efficiently review, evaluate and draft scientific publications and complex technical documents
  • Experience in complex vaccine development projects in a multi-disciplinary, global environment would be valuable
  • Experience in project management
  • Strong planning and tracking skills, able to see big picture, well-organized, focused on results, capable of managing multiple projects, excellent time and self-management
  • Strong interpersonal skills, team player with ability to lead projects, able to work in different cultural environments and interact with regulators, academia and industry
  • Experience of collaborating with developing countries desirable
  • Excellent command / highly proficient in spoken and written English
  • Solid computer literacy with standard software packages, e.g. Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint & Word High level of personal integrity

TRAVEL AND LOCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • International travel will be required
  • The position is based in Oslo, Norway
