Lecturer in Scattering Techniques applied to Condensed Matter Physics

Full Time

The appointment will be on UCL Grade 8. The salary range will be £43,884 - £51,769  per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at UCL aims to appoint a Lecturer in Experimental Scattering Techniques applied to Condensed Matter Physics. The appointment is a full-time position.

We seek candidates with research experience in experimental neutron or X-ray scattering, or related techniques, and their applications to condensed matter. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research complements the experimental research interests of the Condensed Matter and Materials Physics group at UCL. Candidates should either be specialists in scattering or significant experimental users of scattering techniques as part of a broader research programme. Candidates specializing in other areas of condensed matter physics will not be considered.

The successful candidate will be required to conduct an independent programme of academic research at the highest levels of scholarship. They will also be expected to raise grants and publish papers, to supervise postgraduate students, to teach physics at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and to participate in the work of the Department of Physics and Astronomy, UCL, and the broader academic community.

The successful applicant must have a PhD or equivalent in Physics or a related subject and a strong track record of original and high-quality research as evidenced by their publication record. Excellent communication skills and proven teaching ability will be an advantage.
