One postdoc position in bioinformatics is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Jian Feng (https://www.bio.fsu.edu/faculty.php?faculty-id=feng) in the Department of Biological Science and Program in Neuroscience at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. The laboratory is interested in exploring novel epigenetic mechanisms of neuropsychiatric disorders. The laboratory integrates mouse behaviors, epigenetics/genomics, and bioinformatics to address biologically meaningful questions. The postdoc candidates will be expected to work on the following NIH-funded projects:

1) Three dimensional chromosome architecture in drug addiction. We will elucidate the three-dimensional genome organization through Hi-C in preclinical models of cocaine and heroin addiction. We will study long-range looping interactions between distal DNA elements and gene promoters within specific neuronal subtypes differentially engaged in addiction. This project is funded by a NIDA Avenir (DP1) Award.

2) Neuron subtype-specific role of DNA methylcytosine dioxygenase TET1 in cocaine addiction. We will study the functional role of TET1 and its mediated DNA methylation turnover in the two major neuronal subtypes of ventral striatum, the center of the brain reward pathway. This project is supported by an R01 fund.

Though the position is primarily for dry lab (bioinformatics), the candidate is welcome to take on wet lab experiments if interested. Motivated individuals with a PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, molecular genetics, or a related field are encouraged to apply. The applicants must have publication records in next generation sequencing analyses. Experience in whole genome bisulfite sequencing, Hi-C, ChIP-seq, or single cell genomics is highly desirable. Expertise in neuroscience or epigenetics is not required. Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively are essential. The candidate will have ample opportunities to explore novel directions of research in neuroepigenomics within the lab.
