Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, Immunology

The Pennington Biomedical Research Center ranks among the world’s most prominent nutritional and metabolism research institutions. Its stellar reputation has attracted prominent faculty who are leaders in the fields of nutrition, metabolism, obesity, and diabetes to Baton Rouge, LA.  PBRC has four NIH funded Center Grants, outstanding Core Facilities, and is organized into three key divisions: Basic, Clinical, and Population Sciences. Scientists at Pennington Biomedical have multiple collaborations with academic institutions around the globe and the Center has major partnerships with various nutrition and pharmaceutical companies. PBRC also serves as the primary provider of nutritional and metabolism research for the U.S. Military. The research at PBRC encompasses adipocyte biology, neuroscience, islet physiology, skeletal muscle metabolism, cancer, and developmental biology. With many aspects of metabolism involving dysregulation of the immune system, the addition of an immunologist is critical to support the research mission of the Center.

We invite applications from highly motivated candidates with a Ph.D., M.D., M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent graduate degree, outstanding academic credentials, and a track record of research accomplishment. Junior candidates with evidence of successful funding or with grants under review are preferred. Mid- and senior-level candidates are expected to have external funding. Tenure or tenure-track appointments will be made through Basic Sciences division at PBRC. Full access to graduate training programs are available through adjunct appointments with the Louisiana State University campus in Baton Rouge and/or the Medical School campus in New Orleans.

Successful candidates will be provided with outstanding laboratory space, access to state-of-the-art core facilities, administrative support, and competitive start-up packages. Research programs utilizing interdisciplinary and translational approaches that develop interactions across Divisions at PBRC are highly encouraged.  Rank will be commensurate with experience.

Interested applicants should submit: 1) a letter of interest directed to the Faculty Search Committee; (2) a full curriculum vitae; (3) a one-page summary of important contributions to science; (4) a two-page description of future research plans; and (5) contact information for at least three references. Applications will be received until the position is filled.

PBRC and LSU are equal opportunity/affirmative action employers.
