Job Details

Postdoctoral position available immediately, in the laboratory of Dr. Michael Croft at the La Jolla Institute for Immunology (LJI), to join a multi-disciplinary team that is focused on control of immunity by TNF family proteins. The project will investigate how co-stimulatory proteins related to TNF are important for allergen-reactive memory T cells and control of lung inflammation in animal models of asthma.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. or M.D in immunology within the past 5 years, and a background in inflammatory diseases. Applicants will be considered with in vitro and in vivo experience with T cells and animal models of immune disease, including cytokine analysis, flow cytometry, adoptive transfer, and RNA-seq.

LJI is an independent, non-profit research institute. It was ranked in the world’s top 5 immunology research institutes and was ranked #1 in a survey of postdocs as ‘best places to work’ worldwide by The Scientist magazine. In 2016, LJI was ranked as one of the best places to work in San Diego by the San Diego Business Journal. The Institute hosts 23 world-renowned faculty and over 150 postdoctoral researchers. LJI is located in the Science Research Park on the campus of UC San Diego.

Full-time employment at LJI includes a competitive salary, medical/dental/vision benefits and contributions to a retirement plan (403B).

How to apply:

Individuals should upload their CV and list of three references. Candidates must also email Dr. Michael Croft, Head and Professor, Division of Immune Regulation at mick@lji.org with their CV and list of three references.

Company

Founded in 1988, the La Jolla Institute for Immunology (LJI) is one of only a few non-profit biomedical research institutes in the world focused on understanding the immune response to infectious agents and cancers and on advancing progress toward the prevention, treatment and cure of immune system diseases.

LJIs researchers, many of them world-renowned scientists, are exploring the body's defense system at the molecular and cellular levels. We are making important discoveries about how the immune system works and the causes of immune system disorders. By unraveling the complexities of the immune system, LJI's researchers are providing critical insights that are moving science closer to the prevention, treatment and cure of numerous illnesses including infectious diseases and cancer, as well as immune system disorders such as diabetes, arthritis and multiple sclerosis.

OUR MISSION
The La Jolla Institute for  Immunology is dedicated to increasing knowledge and improving human health through studies of the immune system. Our essential purpose is to expand our understanding of how the immune system works and to discover the causes of immune system disorders. The knowledge gained through our biomedical research can, in turn lead to the prevention, treatment and cure of a wide range of human diseases.
