Job Details

Lilly's Biotechnology Center in San Diego is looking to expand its capabilities in systems biology research applied to immunology. We are looking for a highly motivated and agile scientist. Your contributions may include independently perform multivariate analysis of the innate and adaptive immune responses to identify key response indicators; analyze transcriptional profiles for differential gene expression characterization; analyze pathways to understand the biological functions behind the list of differently expressed genes; built prediction models for immune response by adopting classifications methods or deep learning methodology.
Key responsibilities may include:
  • Investigate analysis and machine learning algorithms to develop genetic signature of innate immune response.
  • Collaborate with IG scientists develop and test hypothesis of novel mechanism of Immunogenicity.
  • Develop repeatable analysis pipeline for immunogenicity assessment
  • Collaborate with academic leaders, co-develop bleeding edge technology and advance Lilly's pipeline.
  • Publish the work in peer-reviewed journals and present at key conferences.

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD in Math, Computer Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics or related fields with research focus in one of the areas: Genomics analysis, statistics, machine learning, artificial intelligence

  • This position is not permanent. It is for a fixed duration of two years with potential to extend annually for up to 4 years.

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Expert knowledge of R and Python, Linux environment
  • Experience performing bioinformatics analysis using machine learning techniques such as Tensorflow, Nearest centroid, discriminant analysis via mixed integer programming etc.
  • Experience in using various pathway analysis tools, sequence analysis and microarray profiling analysis
  • Minor in Biology or Biochemistry is desired but not required
  • Experience utilizing AWS for cloud computing
  • Experience with Jupyter and RStudio notebook environments
