The National Institute on Aging, a major research component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is recruiting one post-doctoral fellow to join the Laboratory of Genetics and Genomics, Intramural Research Program (IRP), with a background in any of the following areas: RNA biology, neuroscience, epigenetics, chromatin, genomics, DNA repair, and mouse models. The main project is to study a newly identified DNA/RNA dual-activity topoisomerase complex that is crucial for regulating transcription on DNA and translation on mRNA in neurodevelopment and prevention of mental disorders, including schizophrenia, autism, and cognitive dysfunction (Nat. Neuroscience, 2013, Aug 4; highlighted in Nature; Nat. Comm. 2018). Other projects include purification of multi-protein complexes, and analysis of their structures and functions in DNA damage response and genome instability diseases (Mol. Cell 37: 865-878; Mol. Cell 47: 61-75; Genes & Dev. 22: 2843-55; Nat. Genet. 35:165-70; 37: 958-63)( https://irp.nih.gov/pi/weidong-wang). Successful applicants will possess a Ph.D. degree in Neuroscience, biochemistry, molecular genetics or a related field, with no more than five years of postdoctoral research experience. Preference will be given to candidates with experience using mouse models. Salary is commensurate with research experience and accomplishments. Applicants should send the curriculum vitae, via email to Dr. Weidong Wang, wangw@grc.nia.nih.gov.
