Clinical Researcher in Neurosciences

 

Position Summary:

Akron Children’s Hospital with Kent State University Brain Health Research Institute is expanding pediatric research in neuroscience, with a specific interest in recruiting an experienced clinical researcher. The position is equivalent in rank to an academic Assistant or Associate Professor, depending on experience. The ideal candidate will bring an established clinical research program that fosters collaboration between existing basic, translational, and clinical areas within the NeuroDevelopmental Sciences Center at Akron Children’s Hospital and the Brain Health Research Institute at Kent State University. Clinical and research focus areas include epilepsy, disorders of neurodevelopment, mitochondrial dysfunction and behavioral and mental health. The candidate will have a joint appointment in a newly established, multi-institutional Brain Health Research Institute at Kent State University. The position offers a very competitive salary and startup/relocation package, with a start date as early as September 2019. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ability to function as an independent investigator who manages a clinical research program.
  • Accountable for advancing research in a specified area.
  • Lead cross-disciplinary teams of biomedical scientists, physicians and trainees engaged in collaborative studies. 

 Qualifications:

  • Doctorate (PhD, MD/PhD) in neuroscience, epidemiology, public health or related field.
  • 3-5+ years of independent research experience in clinical studies and/or clinical trials.
  • Excellent written & oral communications skills.
  • Track record of successful external research funding.
  • Publishes work in high quality journals.
  • Provides training and development opportunities for reports and trainees.

The applicant should demonstrate skill and experience in personnel management, professional accountability, advocacy, relationship management and professional networking. Strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills are required.
