Job Details

The Biotechnology and Immunology Research Division of Eli Lilly and Company is seeking a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Research Scientist to join our Immunology team. Our team is dedicated to investigating mechanisms around autoimmune disease and/or immuno-oncology to discover and validate novel targets of interest leading to the generation and development of novel therapeutics. The focus of the studies is to develop unique approaches and experimental strategies derived from high-content systems biology data to develop innovative and effective strategies by which different antibodies or small molecules modulate the immune system. You would be part of a community of post-doctoral fellows at Eli Lilly in various US and global sites who have the opportunity to do great fundamental research but also to experience the process of drug discovery research.

KEY OBJECTIVES/DELIVERABLES:
  • We are looking for a Post-Doctoral Research Scientist with expertise in immunology, immuno-oncology and/or systems biology. You should have experience and working knowledge with in vitro /ex vivo cell and in vivo rodent immunobiology models documented in high quality publications. You should also be able to leverage this expertise with computational approaches and novel technologies in the discovery of new biology related to autoimmune diseases and/or cancer.
  • You will be expected to plan independently and execute experiments, apply data science approaches, develop methods and assays, record and interpret data, and succinctly communicate results in oral and written form.
  • Expected to integrate into a multidisciplinary team effort consisting of scientists with expertise in immunology, bioinformatics, statistics, cellular/molecular biology and protein biochemistry.

Basic Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Immunology/Immuno-Oncology/Systems Biology or a related area that provides the appropriate background.

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Expertise in cellular and molecular immunology, flow cytometry and in vivo models of autoimmune disease/immuno-oncology (expertise in innate immune cell biology is a plus).
  • A strong publication record in peer‐reviewed journals (in immunology, cancer or bioinformatics) demonstrating conceptualization of research ideas and execution.
  • Strong problem solving and comfort with computational biology and/or data science concepts is highly desirable.
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn new techniques.
  • Ability to present data and summarize conclusions in written and oral forms.
  • Motivated to attend scientific meetings, publish, and establish a vigorous research program and develop external collaborations with key investigators in the field.
  • Willingness to work in a highly collaborative team oriented environment.
  • Careful/accurate record keeping.
  • Knowledgeable, highly motivated, creative, and collaborative.
  • Experience with human leukocytes is a plus but not required.
  • Working experience with programming languages R, Python is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of team effort with strong interpersonal skills.
