Post Doctoral

The Bystroff laboratory @ RPI is developing fluorescent protein-based biosensors for viral proteins and other targets. Green fluorescent protein may be circularly permuted, split, and computationally designed to activate fluorescence upon ligand-induced reconstitution. The candidate will computationally design protein biosensors, and will develop and carry out high throughput screens to select working biosensors from a library. Fluorescent biosensors will be fused to protein fibers for the engineering of biosensing materials. If you like protein design, folding, and engineering, we welcome your application.

We seek talented researchers for a Postdoctoral appointment of 1-3 years with experience in cloning and protein expression in bacteria as well as computational molecular modeling experience. Programming ability is highly desirable. Also desirable but not required are skills in the following areas: molecular dynamics, phylogenetic analysis, homology modeling, expression in yeast, FACS, FPLC, protein engineering, and gene assembly PCR.

Candidates must possess a Doctoral Degree in a biology, computational biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, chemistry, computer science or a related discipline. Candidates must have a passion for science and biotechnology.

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Individuals who apply before Monday, April 29, 2019 will receive first consideration. To apply, visit http://rpijobs.rpi.edu/postings/2418 to complete a short online application, and to upload a resume, a cover letter, and contact information for at least three references. Please email Jody Malm to confirm application status at malmj@rpi.edu.
