Located on a 200-acre campus on the northwest side of San Antonio, Texas, Texas Biomed partners with hundreds of researchers and institutions around the world, targeting advances in the fight against infectious diseases impacting our communities around the world, including AIDS, TB, hepatitis, malaria, hemorrhagic fever viruses, parasitic infections and many other infectious diseases.  We also study co-morbidities of infection and vulnerable populations, such as the very young and the elderly and those suffering from cardiovascular diseases and metabolic disorders. Its staff of more than 350 employees includes a multidisciplinary team of approximately 65+ doctoral-level scientists who lead more than 200 major research projects in the Institute’s three program areas of Disease Intervention & Prevention, Host Pathogen Interaction and Population Health, as well as the Southwest National Primate Research Center.

Job Summary

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR FOR RESEARCH RESOURCES

The Southwest National Primate Research Center (SNPRC) located at the Texas Biomedical Research Institute in San Antonio, Texas, invites applications for the Associate Director for Research Resources position. The Associate Director will advise and assist the Director of the SNPRC on organizational structure and operations (administrative, veterinary and fiscal) and in day to day activities; fill in for the Director during his absence; and attend NIH-NPRC Director’s meetings. The Associate Director for Research Resources will also conduct independent research, and manage the P51 base grant.

Qualified applicants must have a doctoral degree in biological sciences, veterinary or clinical medicine, with extensive experience of scholarly research and research program development including the management of teams within a complex research oriented organization. A key requirement of this position is leadership and management of teams within research support organizations utilizing NHPs.

Preferred experience: Preferred qualifications include previously documented evidence of research and team administration as well as a currently funded, visible research program. Previously documented evidence of program development and administration in the NPRC system or other primate research programs is highly preferred.

This is a full-time salaried (exempt) position.  Texas Biomed business hours are Monday through Friday - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Texas Biomed is committed to a drug-free workplace.  Pre-employment drug screen is required.
