Postdoctoral Research Associate in RNA Chemistry and Biology

Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the laboratory of Professor Eriks Rozners at Binghamton University to work on a project "Chemical Approaches to Control the Function of Regulatory RNAs" supported by an R35 grant from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences. The initial appointment is for one year and will be renewable for up to additional 3-4 years, depending on performance of the candidate.

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will assume a leading role in a team involving several graduate and undergraduate students and is expected to start a new line of research in our laboratory on optimization of RNA interference (RNAi) and CRISPR efficiency and specificity using amide-modified RNAs. Specifically, the Postdoctoral Research Associate will be responsible for biophysical and biological (cell culture) experiments to test the effect of amide backbone modifications in RNAi and CRISPR RNAs. The project is interdisciplinary and involves collaborations with structural biochemists. The project involves nucleic acid chemistry and biochemistry, and RNAi and CRISPR biology to study the amide-modified RNAs.

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry or related field and experience with nucleic acid chemistry, as well as with molecular biology and cell culture techniques. Experience with and RNAi and CRISPR will be a strong advantage. The position is available starting April 1, 2019 and will remain open until filled.
