Job Details

The Clinical Laboratory Research/Senior Research Scientist is responsible for supporting ongoing clinical studies by planning, organizing and conducting laboratory experiments as well as thoroughly documenting and preparing laboratory data for statistical analysis in support of clinical trials. In addition, the Research/Senior Research Scientist will be responsible for identifying and applying new technologies and innovations to update the capabilities of the clinical laboratory. Prefer candidates with experience in assay design and validation in a GLP setting.

The following are functions, duties or tasks that are performed independently and able to coach/train other peers by a Research/Senior Research Scientist at the R1/R2 Job Level:
  • Work with the Sponsor and Study Manager to determine project requirements
  • Identify and develop new viral/bacterial culture methodologies and analytical methods
  • Develop and review protocols and sample analysis plans
  • Approve validation methods and reviews sample analysis data
  • Identify scientific issues or scope changes within the study
  • Independently reviews and approves raw data
  • Lead troubleshooting to enable completion of studies
  • Reviews and approve laboratory data packages for scientific accuracy and completeness.
  • Provides technical support as needed
  • Plans, prioritizes, and manages workload for large and complex projects
  • Maintain infrastructure of laboratory and an organized, clean and safe working environment
  • Evaluate and incorporate new laboratory equipment, innovation and techniques
  • Prepare SOPs/working procedures
  • Work according to external and internal guidelines (e.g. SOP's, GxP, HSE, AW)
  • Comply with quality systems and standards (e.g. no critical findings at internal or external audits)

  • Serum neutralization assays
  • Perform viral neutralization assays
  • PCR, RT-PCR, Q-PCR
  • Hemagglutination Assay
  • Hemagglutination Inhibition Assay
  • Immunofluorescences Assay
  • Growth Kinetics Studies
  • Optimization Studies
  • ELISA
  • Western Blot
  • Calculate dilutions require to hit target titers
  • Embryonated egg work

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD in biology, microbiology, immunology, animal science or related scientific discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a laboratory setting
