Tenured/Tenure Track Faculty – Department of Rehabilitation Science

George Mason University, Department of Rehabilitation Science is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic person for a full-time 9-month, open rank tenured position in Rehabilitation Science (RHBS) to lead the Human Motion, Function, and Performance specialization. The successful candidate will have demonstrated a robust program of extramurally funded research and refereed publication history related to the effects of exercise and training on physical performance in understanding movement as an emergent phenomenon and exploring the unique connection between movement and health. This research program should intersect with the department's overarching research interests on the effects of exercise and training on human performance with emphasis on fatigability, movement efficiency, mechanical work, and metabolic economy. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.

Our PhD program currently has over 20 doctoral students, and the department offers the first and only undergraduate degree in Rehabilitation Science in the Commonwealth of Virginia! Our Functional Performance Laboratory expanded to almost 4000 square feet in January 2018, and is well-equipped for studies ranging from motion analysis and biomechanics to metabolic and cardiorespiratory function, especially in older adults and individuals with chronic conditions. Our location in the greater DC metro area serves to provide collaborative research opportunities with local and national organizations and numerous hospitals and clinics.
