Responsibilities

The Tapscott Lab has an opening for a postdoctoral research associate who has interest and expertise in gene transcription in a chromatin context in normal development and disease. The candidate will complement and contribute to the active research program, which includes studies of the molecular mechanisms of cell specification and differentiation in normal development and disease. Recent work has focused on DUX4 and related factors and their role in regulating early pluripotent stem cell specification, development, and disease, including cancer and muscular dystrophy. In addition, the lab studies the molecular and genomic regulation of cell specification using myogenesis and neurogenesis as model systems.

 

Qualifications

  • Recent MD, DVM, or PhD
  • A strong foundation in molecular and cell biology
  • Broad knowledge of molecular biology techniques
  • Highly motivated and well-organized individual who thinks independently but enjoys working as part of a dynamic and collaborative team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A track record of productive research
  • Will be compensated according to the NIH pay scale
