Job description / Project:

A postdoctoral position is available in the Diagnostic Systems research group to develop an innovative point-of-care (POC) diagnostic test for brain injury. Funded for four years, this exciting project is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated scientist to drive innovation by translating discovery research towards a prototype bio-analytical device. The appointed researcher will be responsible to establish appropriate functionalization chemistry and to develop a highly sensitive assay. The interdisciplinary project is in collaboration with academic and industrial partners. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute to concept development and design of a novel cartridge and portable measurement device.

 

Requirements:

Applicants should hold an advanced degree (Ph.D.) in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or Organic Chemistry and have strong expertise and an excellent track record in solid surface functionalization with bio-molecules. Candidates should also have an in-depth background in immunoassay development and test performance characterization. Hands-on experience with electrochemical and optical / spectroscopic methods and microfluidic paper-based analytical devices (PAD) would clearly be a plus.

Furthermore, the candidate will be expected to show strong project leadership, a high degree of independency, excellent problem-solving as well good documentation and communication skills.

Contract duration: 4 years.

Starting date: April 2019 or as soon as possible.
